Dearly Beloved,
Grace and Peace to you.
And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
for you will go before the Lord to prepare God’s ways,
to give knowledge of salvation to all people
by the forgiveness of their sins.
By the tender mercy of our God,
the dawn from on high will break upon us,
to give light to those who sit in darkness
and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the way of peace.

You, tender one, innocent one, child of God:
God will shine through you without your seeing it.
You will be God’s channel into people’s lives.
In your kindness people will somehow feel blessed,
and trust God’s grace because of your forgiveness.
For God will dawn upon us with gentle love,
being light to those who live in darkness,
those whom death shadows,
and guiding our hearts in lives of peace.
