In the beginning
when God created the heavens and the earth,
the earth was a formless void
and darkness covered the face of the deep,
while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters.

In darkness and chaos
God breathes over the water,
Creation awaits.
In the void, the emptiness,
there is space
for the new.
Over the face of the deep
is the holy silence
in which the One will speak.
