Jesus goes up a mountain
with his bros. Suddenly
Malcom and Martin join him,
talking about liberation,
where it goes for the freed,
how it ends for liberators.
The end isn’t till after
the end… but he’s already there—
even as clouds gather—
shining with light,
light of the world,
eternal dawn,
the sun of God.
Peter says, “Let me try
to get a handle on this.”
God says, “You don’t get
to do the talking. Listen.”
They look— it’s just Jesus,
plain old. Still, there’s
no stopping somebody
who’s been to the mountain top.
But Jesus says, “Don’t even
think you get this
till after you’ve suffered.”
