Good Friday liturgy #3- Prayers

Two series of four prayers for lighting Advent wreath candles that reflect themes of each week's Lectionary readings.    Samples:             Series 1 Week 1 We praise you, O God, for this evergreen crown that marks our days of preparation for Christ’s advent.     As we light the first candle on the wreath,      rouse us from sleep, that we may be ready to greet our Beloved      when he comes with our healing in his hands. Enlighten us with your grace, that we may live in peace as signs of your advent among us.      Kindle within us the gift of hope through Christ our Beloved,      whose coming is certain and whose day draws near. Amen.                   Series 2 Week 1 This wreath is the great circle of time, held in the promise of God.    Light dawns; a new day is coming. Stay awake and be ready, for you don't know when grace will appear!    God of love, teach us to see with eyes of faith. Direct our hope, an d transform our longing.    Keep us alert to your coming,    shining with mercy and lively with hope.
